National Central University (NCU) and the University of Wyoming formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, marking a significant milestone in international academic cooperation. Acting Executive Director Quillinan and an esteemed delegation from the University of Wyoming represented the primary academic partners for this agreement. The Honorable Mark Gordon, Governor of Wyoming, accompanied by Chief of Staff Perkins, visited the campus to serve as honored witnesses to the historic signing.
The partnership is designed to establish a solid foundation in teaching, research, and cultural exchange by leveraging National Central University’s profound interdisciplinary strengths in Earth system science, energy engineering, and carbon management alongside the University of Wyoming’s extensive applied research resources.
As the global community moves toward a 2050 net-zero future, the synergy between the two institutions is exceptional. The University of Wyoming has developed strong, globally recognized academic and research capabilities in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS). These strengths closely align with the core developmental directions of NCU’s Center for Carbon Storage and Geothermal and the Sustainable and Green Energy (SAGE) College, creating significant opportunities for international collaboration in environmental research.
Furthermore, the partnership acknowledges that securing the sustainable energy grids of the future will require advanced frontiers of computation and communication. To this end, NCU is rapidly expanding its research capabilities across diverse fields, including geothermal and hydrogen energy, advanced power grid technologies, and quantum information science.
The formalized MOU will remain in effect for four years from the date of signing. According to the agreement, future collaborations will encompass faculty and staff exchanges, student overseas study programs, and the establishment of both short- and long-term academic courses. The institutions will also launch joint research initiatives, participate in shared academic seminars, and facilitate the reciprocal exchange of academic materials and information.
Through this closer cooperation with the University of Wyoming, National Central University aims to expand international connections and research resources for its faculty and students, while contributing breakthrough academic expertise to the advancement of Earth sciences and global sustainable energy development.
