A spin-off company founded on the technologies developed by Professor Wang Chih-Ming and his team at the Department of Photonics, National Central University (NCU)—MetaRosetta Co., Ltd.—was recently featured in an exclusive interview by Nikkei Tech Foresight, a professional technology platform under Nikkei, Japan’s most influential financial media outlet. The interview highlights NCU’s strong research capabilities and commercialization potential in the field of meta-optics (metalenses). The coverage underscores that NCU’s long-standing dedication to meta-optics research has now earned significant recognition from authoritative international technology media.

MetaRosetta CEO Hsu Wei-Lun stated that being interviewed by Nikkei not only signifies global recognition of Taiwan’s advanced optical technologies but also marks the company’s formal entry onto the international stage. He noted that the company will continue to use Taiwan as its research and development base while collaborating with partners in Japan and around the world to accelerate the industrial implementation of meta-optics technologies.

Professor Wang Chih-Ming emphasized that the growing attention from international media reflects the substantial progress made in recent years by academia and Taiwan’s emerging deep-tech startups in meta-optics. He added that the research team will continue to advance metalens technologies across near-infrared, long-wave infrared, and optical sensing applications while working with domestic and international research institutions and industry partners to drive scientific innovation and engineering development in the field. Their goal is to strengthen Taiwan’s position in next-generation optical technologies.
