The highlight of the Taiwanese physics community—the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Physical Society of Taiwan (TPS) and the Project Results Presentation of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC)—took place from January 24th to 26th at National Central University (NCU). Organized by the Department of Physics at NCU, the event attracted domestic and international scholars, experts, and students, sparking ardent academic discussions.
With nearly two thousand attendees, the conference featured prominent scholars from home and abroad delivering lectures on the current status and developments in physics research. It also welcomed domestic and international technology companies to exhibit or host technology briefings. The aim was to enhance students' understanding of the current technology industry and improve their competitiveness in the job market through interactions between academia and industry.
The competition for outstanding posters and oral presentations primarily involved students, encouraging them to showcase their academic research achievements. This initiative aimed to cultivate a culture of student participation in cutting-edge physics research and enhance their communication skills, thereby stimulating their research potential and confidence. This grand event is expected to bring more excitement to the physics community and increase the international academic visibility of both Taiwan's physics community and NCU.
