NCU organized a cultural experience event for the Taiwanese Lunar New Year, inviting international students to participate in writing spring couplets in calligraphy. The event featured traditional costumes and a variety of Taiwanese delicacies, providing not only a glimpse into the mutual wishing of the Taiwanese New Year culture but also fostering cross-border cultural exchange of traditional calligraphy. The event unfolded with a traditional costume show, where students dressed in ancient attire expressed their fascination, eagerly capturing the moment through photographs. In addition to learning the art of writing spring couplets in calligraphy, the host explained the cultural significance of these festive messages in the context of the Lunar New Year. Despite being unfamiliar with brush techniques and not necessarily proficient in Chinese characters, students enthusiastically tried their hand at expressing well-wishes such as "Spring," "Good Fortune," and "Great Prosperity" on the spring couplet paper. As the event concluded, students gathered to enjoy various Taiwanese dishes, including beef noodle soup, stir-fried rice noodles, savory rice pudding, and adzuki bean tangyuan, immersing themselves in the diverse food culture of Taiwan. This event not only facilitated rich cultural exchange but also allowed international students to experience in advance the joyful atmosphere of the Lunar New Year.
