According to the latest 2020 Best Global Universities Rankings announced by the U.S. News & World Report, NCU ranked the third place among the universities in Taiwan, keeping up with National Taiwan University (NTU), National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), and surpassing National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and National Chiao Tung University (NCTU). Notably, in terms of the indicator “international collaboration,” it is the sixth year in succession that NCU has stayed the top one among universities in Taiwan.

The Best Global Universities Rankings conducted by the U.S. News & World Report is one of the top three rankings for higher education institutions worldwide. It is a ranking with high credibility that teachers and students at high schools in the U.S. will refer to when they choose universities and colleges. There have been top 1,500 universities in 81 countries ranked according to 13 indicators and the weighted scores that measure international research performance of each university; in particular, the ranking emphasizes the academic research performance and reputations of higher education institutions.

NCU has always outstood in this ranking and won fourth place for five consecutive years since 2015. This year NCU made a breakthrough, ranking the top three in Taiwan. “Compared with the grants given to NTU, NTHU, NCKU, and NCTU, the grant that NCU receives from the Higher Education Deep Plowing Program of the Ministry of Education (MOE) is much less. It was definitely not an easy task that we could surpass NCKU and NCTU in this influential ranking. I believe that this achievement was attributed to the endeavor and hard work of all faculty members and students at NCU and the resource sharing of NCU’s partners worldwide. Therefore, we can ‘make the impossible possible with limited resources,” described the president of NCU, Dr. Jing-Yang Jou.
